Paying tribute to the classic western with inspiration from the Nordic sagas, The Salvation takes place in the 1870s America. When settler John kills his family’s murderer, he unleashes the fury of notorious gang leader Delarue. Betrayed by his corrupt and cowardly community, the peaceful pioneer must turn vengeful hunter, slay the outlaws, and cleanse the town’s black heart. The Salvation is an epic tale of revenge, lost love and greed.
The producer is Sisse Graum Jrgensen, who delivered such successes as Cannes-winner The Hunt (2012), Oscar and Golden Globe-winner In a Better World and FIPRESCI-winner A Family. Sisse Graum Jrgensen is producing for Zentropa Entertainments33 in co-production with Spier Films in South Africa and Forward Films from UK with the support of The Danish Film Institute and Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), Nordisk Film & TV Fond and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.
Domestic distributor Nordisk Film is releasing the film in October 2014. TrustNordisk started presales of The Salvation at this year’s EFM in Berlin and will continue presales in Cannes 2013.
